ODT Business Interiors has just signed off on the refurbishment
of an office near Southampton for one of the UK’s top 20
recruitment companies.
Around 45 employees from AIM-listed Matchtech Group plc are
moving into the 5,000 sq ft (464 sq m) building following a
five-figure project by office fit-out specialist ODT Business
Interiors. Staff will be working for two new trading brands
under the Matchtech Group umbrella, Barclay Meade and Alderwood
Education, aimed at placements within professional financial
services and education respectfully.
The two-storey office is at 1490 Parkway, Solent Business Park, Whiteley, and is less than
100 metres from Matchtech’s head office. It was formerly the
nerve centre for Volvo Ocean Race, organisers of the famous
offshore round-the-world sailing race, which relocated abroad.
Matchtech chairman and founder George Materna, who has grown the
company locally from two people in 1984 to nearly 350, said:
“We’re pleased with the look and feel of the new office, which
is a two-minute walk from our headquarters, following the
fit-out by ODT Business Interiors. It was carried out on
schedule and at a competitive price, creating a highly
professional office environment that encapsulates the brand
values of Barclay Meade and Alderwood Education.”
Andrew Saunders, the director of Fareham-based ODT Business
Interiors, said:
“This contract brings me full circle with Matchtech, as they set me off on my
career 17 years ago by sourcing me a job with an interiors
company."
Works at the office included partitioning, plumping, electrics, data, signage, window blinds
and feature flooring. The refurbishment contract at 1490 Parkway
is the latest for ODT Business Interiors. Other recent projects
include the head office of Bacardi Martini near Winchester, the
YOU charity in Fareham, which helps thousands of vulnerable
people in the South, and Hampshire Autistic Society’s
headquarters at Solent Business Park.
On behalf of global property group Goodman, 1490 Parkway has been leased to
Matchtech through joint agents King Sturge and Hughes Ellard.
Matchtech, which specialises in professional recruitment in the
engineering and science, construction and professional services
sectors, is the UK’s largest single-site recruitment company,
with a £258m turnover in 2008. Last year the company sourced
more than 6,000 specialist assignments for professional
contractors, as well as placing 3,000 candidates into permanent
employment. Ends
